The first Croatian festival of jams and marmalades

 „The first Croatian festival of jams and marmalades“ will take  place in Dubrovnik, from October 5th to October 7th. This Festival will be organized by DEŠA-Dubrovnik and association „Dubrovačka naranča“. All registered and unregistered producers will gather here for the first time. This will be really „sweet“ festival and all participants will be dressed in national costumes of their region.  Numerous folklore ansembles will take part in this event as well as the pupils from the primary school „Marin Držić“ who will participate in creative workshops. The awarding committee will choose the best marmalade and jam. Sponsors and co-organizers of the festival are: The Ministry of agriculture, forestry and water management and the City of Dubrovnik.

This is the first time  that such manifestation has been organized in Dubrovnik and Croatia, and it represents an unique way of promotion of autochthonous products from all over the country. The main goal of this manifestation is to gather all producers of jams and marmalades from Croatia and to show the abundance, diversity and potentials of our country. Besides promotional and reviewing character, this festival will also have educational character too. The producers and visitors will acquire  useful information concerning the problems of production and product sale, protection of autochthonous products and quality tags, introduction of HACCP standards, models of integration, tredns, production technologies, and programs of support by governmental and other institutions. The participants will be acquainted with all state incentives for agriculture
and production.

In the morning  of the first day the awarding committee will choose the best marmalades at the premises of DEŠA-Dubrovnik. The lecturers from the Faculty for the food and technology will give an lecture on jam and marmalade production during the afternoon. They wil also speak on law regulations concerning production of jam and marmalade, as well as on programs of the marketing  preparation of agricultural products. DEŠA-Dubrovnik will present its project „Jam made of sour oranges from Dubrovnik region“. DESA has been implementing this project aiming to improve the production and manufacture the fruits of the sour orange and in order to create autochthonous product, i.e. the jam made of sour oranges from Dubrovnik region.
During the course of the  second day, the participants will have an opportunity to offer their products to all visitors in front of the St. Blaises church. The host of the manifestation will be Mr. Branko Uvodić.

Besides exibitors, numerous potential customers will attend this festival, as well as numerous hoteliers and caterers. These sweet products, packed in atractive packings, could become ecological souvenirs, enrich tourist offer and strengthen small entrepreneurship.
