Seminars and conferences

2007.

• The president of DESA-Dubrovnik represented the City of Dubrovnik at the international Forum „Dynamic cities need women“, that took place on December 2nd to 6th in Brussels.
• DESA took part at the international conference ECOVAST „Small European cities – their role in development of rural areas and preservation of heritage“
• DESA participated at the Agricultural conference 2007, that was held in Zadar on July 17th  to 18th, organized by the Ministry of agriculture, forestry and water supplies
• DESA took part at the working session of Croatian network for rural development.
• DESA participated at 2nd Congress of women entrepreneurs of Adriatic-Ionic Region, that was held on May 30th to 31st, in Ancona, Italy.
• DESA participated at the conference and discussion on Regional Operative  Programme Dubrovnik-neretva county.

2006.

• DESA participates at the three regional conferences on the Regional operational programme of Dubrovnik-neretva county.
• DESA's representative attended the seminar "Leader measures in rural tourism", that was organized by the Ministry of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Supplies in Zagreb.
• DESA takes part in the meeting  of the Croatian Women's Network in Porec.
• DESA participates  at the First congress of women entrepreneurs from Adriatic-Ionic Region in Dubrovnik. More than 150 women from this region took part in this congress.
• DESA takes part in the Regional conference "Sustainable development of Velebit and its surroundings" that was organized by the Green Action and Municipality of Lovinac.
• DESA takes part  in the Founding Assembly of the Croatian network for rural development as one of the founders. This Assembly was held in Zagreb.Croatian network for rural developement gathers the civil society organizations in order to enable better availability of informations on contemporary approaches to development of rural areas.

2005

• DESA takes part at the meeting of NGO-s operating in the cross-border areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. This meeting had the purpose of stimulating the co-operation between the associations in the region. The meeting was organized by East West Institute from Dubrovnik, and was held in Dubrovnik
• Within the implementation of the project "Local development poles", the representatives of DESA took part in a workshop-seminar, which was held in Zadar.
• DESA's representative participated at the second National Conference on Voluntarism that took place in Trogir.
• Ancona, at the workshop within the project "Local development poles and integrated management of the coastal zone"

2004

 

• In the action of the City of Dubrovnik "New face of the Town". Within this project DESA presented activities in its premises. On this occasion, the major of Dubrovnik, Mrs Dubravka Suica with its associates, visited DESA's premises.
May 22nd 2004 DESA's home in Lazareti on the occasion of the action "New face of the Town"
• at the seminar and workshop on preparatory actions for projects of cross-border, trans-national and interregional co-operation within the frame of the programe CARDS 2003. This seminar was organized by the Ministry of European Integrations, and was held in Split.
• DESA's representative participates at the educational programe for entrepreneurial advisors. This programe was organized by  Dubrovnik Centre for Entrepreneurship in co-operation with the Ministry of crafts, small and medium entrepreneurship
• At the local conference for the Dalmatian region, on the topic: The  civil society role in conflict prevention and peace building", held in Split. This conference was organized within the global initiative of the European Centre for conflict prevention (ECCP), as an reaction  to the recommendation of the  UN general secretary Mr. Kofi A.Annan.
• At the meeting of Croatian Women's Network. The Network  gathers organizations, groups, initiatives recognizing the fact that women have been discriminated and marginalized economically, politically and in status.
• On-line workshop on the topic "Entrepreneurship in tourism", organized by the association Teledomovi in Ljubuski, Bosnia and Herzegovina. DESA's representative, Jany Hansal, was the lecturer on this occasion.
• DESA takes active part at the first National conference on voluntarism, held in  Cavtat, and organized by the National Foundation for development of civil society.
• At the seminar " Financing of municipal infrastructure and cultural management of the town", held in Dubrovnik and organized by Hans Seidel Stiftung and the City of Dubrovnik.
• Within the National programe for youth, implemented by the Ministry of health and social care and HMH (Croatian Humanitarian Network). First meeting was held in Stubicke Toplice on the topic " Education from the project of coevals help".
• Within the work of Professional Section  of the workers employed in protection of children and youth with disordered behaviour, organized by Ministry of health and social care, which was held in Dubrovnik.
• DESA's representative took part in the programe of informing and education on EU, organized by the National Foundation for development of civil society  and ECAS (European Citizens Action Service) from Bruxelles. Education has been conducted in monthly workshops (three days), and included 25 representatives from NGO-s from Croatia.

 

2003

At the expert gathering  on " Family entrepreneurship in tourism", and the workshop " Marketing of tourism products", organized by Zagreb Fair and Institute for tourism.

• internet workshop in Zagreb, organized by the association B.a.b.e.
• third World Social Forum in Brasilian town Porto Alegre,
• at the fifth and final workshop "Strengthening the role of  civil society organizations within the process of social politics decentralization  in Croatia"organized by CERANEO. In the final presentation there was displayed a model of the association co-ordination  and the City of Dubrovnik concerning the advancement of the programe of social care.
• At the Associations Days, in Zagreb, organized by the Governmental office for associations of the Republic of Croatia,
• At the exibition of handicrafts and national costumes- held in Sabadel, Spain,
• Fourth in a row, the workshop organized by CERANEO "Strengthening the role of the civil society organizations within the process of decentralization of social politics in Croatia" in Stubicke Toplice,
• On the seventh  Health Fair in Vinkovci through presentation "Models of unemployment alleviation" in co-operation with the  City of Durovnik,Office for social activities and the project "Dubrovnik- the healthy town".

2000/2001/2002

During these three years DESA participated at numerous seminars, conferences, etc...
Particularly important are the following:

• the Millenium Conference of Small and Medium Entrepreneurs, organized by the Association of Small and Medium Entrepreneurs
• seminar on " Legal and Financial Doing a Business of NGO " held in Zagreb
• seminar on "Education for Managers of Humanitarian and Related Associations" organized by Humanitarian Network of Croatia
• the conference of Women's Infotech on "Women and Politics - Feminism in Eastern Europe"
• workshop "Involving the Youth into the Work of NGO's" organized by European House Dubrovnik
• seminar on "Legal and Financial Doing a Business of NGO" organized by Academia Moderna from Zagreb
• seminar on " Expansion of the European Union and Perspectives" held in Klagenfurt and organized by European House Klagenfurt
• conference on " To be a Woman in Europe - a Dream or a Nightmare" held in Graz
• workshop " Life Environment - the Art of Living" held in September 2002 in Montenegro, Gornja Lastva,
• organized by NGO "Napredak Gornja Lastva and Biennial of Cetinje"
• 11th European Conference on Volunteers in Lisbon

During these three years Desa celebrates with appropriate actions and programs the Ecology Day, International Women s Day, Volunteer s Day, St. Nicholas Day, Day of Human rights...

1998/1999

DESA's executives continue the organization's contact with women's movements at home and abroad. DESA has participated at:

• the round table "The Role of Women in Society Today" in Nantes, France
• the Forum of Women of the Mediterranean at the Inter-University Center in Dubrovnik
• the International Congress of Women, organized by SOS Paris
• the workshop of women's non-governmental associations organized by the American Foundation Delphi Starr International
• the round table on the situation of cultural institutions in Croatia, organized by the Ministry of Culture - seminar on education of educators, organized by the National Institute for the Protection of Family, Youth and Motherhood

Particularly important is the "Conference on the Role of Women in the Local Community" organized by DESA in October 1998.

1995/1996/1997

The events that DESA's activists attended in 1995, 1996 and 1997 are:

• "The Preliminary Conference on the Status of Women" in New York, at the invitation of the Commission for Human Rights
• "The Fourth World Conference on Women s Rights" in Peking, China, with the sponsorship of the European Commission for Human Rights
• "The Role of Humanitarian Organizations in the Process of Return of Displaced Persons"
• "Trauma and Stress" organized by the American association "Umbrella Grant", New York
• "Conference on Rural Tourism" in Straslund at the invitation of the European House of Germany
• "Poverty in Croatia"
• "Women War Victims", during the International Women's Film Festival in Paris
• "Role and Status of Women in Society" organized by European Organization Aid to NGOs (CEAVA)
• "Development of Non Profit Organizations involved in Life Earning Activities" organized by the Zagreb Center for the Development of the Non Profit Organizations (CERANEO)
• " New Laws regarding the NGO's" organized by the Croatian Humanitarian Network
• "The Conference on the Women's Human Rights" in Geneva

1994.

During 1994. DESA participated in the European Conference on "Psychological Care and Rehabilitation of Traumatized War Victims in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina". DESA also took an active part in numerous seminars and round tables such as:
"The Quality of Life of Refugees and Displaced Persons" organized by the Zagreb School of Public Health".

1993.

DESA's engagement had started for the first time with the seminar " Psychological Help for Needed" organized in Dubrovnik in 1993. by The Zagreb School of Public Health. Soon afterwards, in October, DESA had independently organized its own first Symposium in Dubrovnik - "Women War Victims, Their Suffering and their Expectations" with the sponsorship of its two main supporters: Evangelische Frauenarbeit and Solidaritee Femmes.
