Cultural happenings

DESA has always strived to encourage and animate our authors and artists, opening its doors wide to the worlds of prose, poetry and music. The list of those who have visited DESA and read their work and performed their music is quite impressive:

Tereza Govic- a renowned author and a friend of DESA's whose stories weave reminiscences of a childhood spent in the Dubrovnik countryside;
our fellow-citizens - authors Luko Paljetak and Mato Jeriniæ;
the former being Member of the Academy;
and our musicians - well-known guitarists Buco Pende, Antun Riloviæ, Maro Goluboviæ and The Atlantis band who knew how to penetrate with their music deep into the hearts of the audience.

DESA sponsors its own music with a women's vocal group (klapa), The Mljecke, who specialize in ancient island songs, sung by their mothers and grandmothers.

DESA's doors are open to all artists, whether poet or musician, thus contributing to personal cultural development.
